Spotify’s Top 50 Artists of 2021

As part of the company’s annual #SpotifyWrapped campaign, Spotify has unveiled the top 50 most streamed artists of the year globally.

Latin star Bad Bunny ranked at #1 for the second consecutive year, earning over 9.1 billion streams worldwide during the tracking period. This marks a new best single year stream count for any artist in the platform’s history, topping his own mark of 8.3 billion last year.

Taylor Swift launched six spots to #2 on the global tally, ranking as the top female artist this year. Like last year, she was also the top female in the United States.

BTS was the top group, ranking at #3 overall. The Korean septet also ranked #1 among groups on US Spotify.

Drake fell two rungs to #4, although he re-gained the #1 ranking on the US version of the listing this year. Fellow Canadian superstar Justin Bieber closed out the top 5, rising from last year’s rank of #12.

Outside of newcomer Olivia Rodrigo, who ranked as the service’s top new artist (and ranked #9 overall), the lower half of the top 10 was full of familiar faces: The Weeknd was down one spot to #6, J Balvin fell four spots to #7, Ariana Grande moved three spots and into the top 10 at #8 and Juice WRLD dipped six spots to #10.
