Spotify’s Top 50 Female Artists of 2020

As a follow up to yesterday’s rundown of the top 50 artists on Spotify in 2020, here’s a list of the top 50 most streamed female artists of the year globally on the platform.

Billie Eilish repeats at #1, having first topped the chart in 2019. Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande swap spots versus last year, landing at #2 and #3 respectively. Grande was previously #1 in 2018.

Dua Lipa flies to #4 on the strength of her Future Nostalgia album, the top streamed record by a female artist this year. She’s up six spots versus her rank on this chart in 2019. Halsey and Lady Gaga repeat at ranks #5 and #6, stabilized by the release of new albums MANIC and Chromatica respectively.

Nicki Minaj climbs to #7, up seven spots from last year’s #14. She’s the top female rapper on the chart this year.

Rihanna repeats her rank of #8, while Camila Cabello slides to #9 (from last year’s #4) and Selena Gomez ticks up two spots to close out the top 10 at #10.

Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion are the top debuts, appearing at #11 and #15 respectively. Neither made the chart in 2019. Consequently, four rappers make the top 20; only two did in 2019.
