Upon its debut at #1 on this week’s overall UK albums chart, the Official Charts Company confirmed that Lana Del Rey’s Chemtrails Over the Country Club is the fastest selling vinyl by a female artist this century.
Notching up 40,000 total sales this week, the record shifted 16,700 copies on vinyl to set the record. Among all acts, Lana’s latest studio album only trailed the debut of Arctic Monkeys’ most recent release, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. Casino shifted 24,500 vinyl copies in its first seven days upon its release in mid May 2018.
Meanwhile, Lana now ties Celine Dion for the fifth most #1 albums among female soloists in UK chart history. She has topped the chart five times in total (Born to Die, Ultraviolence, Lust For Life, Norman F**king Rockwell and now Chemtrails Over the Country Club).
