Drake’s instant hit “God’s Plan” is on its way to becoming the first single released in 2018 to top 1 million pure sales in the United States.
With another 9,000 moved in the week ending July 19 and a strong 975,000 copies sold to date, “Plan” will likely reach the milestone within the next month.
It will join Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” as the only songs to sell over 1 million copies this year. Notably, “Perfect” was first issued in March 2017.
Upon its release this January, “God’s Plan” broke a host of streaming records and debuted at #1 on the Hot 100. As of the July 28 issue, it remains ranked within the top 10 for a 26th consecutive week.
Including streams, it has topped 8 million in equivalent United States sales and earned an 8x Platinum certification from the RIAA.
