
A follow up to last week’s first ever installment, here’s a look at this past week’s best selling Korean albums in the United States (sales ending July 26; catalog albums excluded). Adapted from Billboard’s World Albums chart with non-Korean records removed. This week’s list features BTS, Seungri of BIG BANG and ASTRO among others.
BTS Closes the Gap
‘Love Yourself 轉 Tear’ repeats as the top selling Korean language record for a ninth non-consecutive week with over 5,000 sold (down 14%). Predecessor ‘Love Yourself 承 Her’ adds another 3,600 this week at is holds at #2. Up 3% versus last week, it continues to close the weekly sales gap with ‘Tear’.
‘The Great Seungri’
Debut Korean language full length from BIG BANG member Seungri posts a solid start with 900 copies sold. It’s Seungri’s second top 3 project as a soloist on the World Albums Chart following 2013’s ‘Let’s Talk About Love’ (#2). Including his work with BIG BANG, ‘The Great Seungri’ is his sixth top 5 entry.
BLACKPINK Sets Personal Best
As the foursome’s ‘Square Up EP’ is listed for a sixth week, BLACKPINK earns its longest consecutively charting project from debut. Previous effort ‘Square Two’ was present for five weeks from debut before departing the World Albums chart (it would later re-enter for 17 more weeks). The new EP has sold 12,400 copies to date in the United States.
KARD
Mixed gender group KARD earns its third top 10 entry on the World Albums chart in under a year with mini album ‘Ride on the Wind’ (new at #8). ‘Wind’ also ranks as the sixth best selling Korean album of the week (just under 300 sold).
