British band Dead or Alive’s international hit “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)” has topped the 1 million mark in United States digital downloads.
Selling approximately 500 copies each week, its lifetime sales now stand at 1.02 million. It remains uncertified by RIAA.
First released in late 1984, “Round” gained steam over the course of several months in the group’s native UK and eventually topped the singles chart in March 1985. It reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 that August, becoming the first of five Hot 100 hits for the band.
The track’s chorus was later sampled on Flo Rida and Kesha’s “Right Round”, which set sales records and topped international charts upon its release in 2009.
